Past events -

Thaks to a grant from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Craik Sustainable Living Project Health Committee will be organizing a series of outdoor (and indoor) physical activities for community residents to participate in from April 2012 to March 2013. Craik was one of 141 communities to apply for this grant, and only one of 5 to receive this grant.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation's My Healthy Communities Grants aim to assist Saskatchewan communities to support healthy families. As one component of the Foundation's Heart Healthy Children and Youth health promotion strategy, these grants are designed to enhance the skills, abilities, resources, and commitment to healthy living within communities. The hope is for community members and organizations/groups to increase their confidence to overcome health challenges and make healthy options available for people in their community.

Various physical activities will be organized throughout the year. Activities will include cross country skiing, sledding, skating, kiteboard demonstrations, hiking, walking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, golfing, horseback riding, curling, downhill skiing, among others. There will also be a community potluck and equipement swap for people who would like to sell ot trade their old sports equipment.

We are ran a contest at Craik School to find a good name for this program. The winner was Kasie Boyd, who submitted "Fun Just Begun", which we will use for our advertising for program events.
